In the bottom pouch I can fit a 16 oz water bottle, portable water filter, first aid, and snacks. A 48 oz bottle is too large and flops out. STORAGE: At first I was disappointed there was no dedicated pouch for a hydration pack and straw, but the two side water bottle holders each successfully held a 24 oz bottle for miles of trail with occasional running, and the bottles are easy to grab and put back in without removing the pack. The hip and chest straps make it comfortable to carry a 15 lb dog + 7 lbs water, food and other gear for both hiking and cycling. But he can get squirmy after 10-20 minutes so I only use this pack when he's tired, for areas with challenging terrain or in certain public spaces. The collar biner is key.ĬOMFORT: My dog is usually excited to get in the pack and appears comfortable. Once, when I didn't attach the interior carabiner to his collar, he pulled both arms out and twisted to the side (but was unable to jump out). He usually pulls at least one of his front paws out of the arm holes to get a better view. He's snug in the small Knavigate size but I think it's better than the medium since he tends to squirm around and has successfully jumped out of other packs. SIZE/FIT: My 15-lb Chihuahua mix is 10″ tall, 17″ long, with a 17″ inch girth. My husband liked this bag so much when he saw it that I ended up purchasing one for him before he snagged mine away for himself.
